Digital Social House

VERA is delighted to be announced as a winner of the Alfresco Credit Crunch Innovation Awards.
The Credit Crunch Innovation Awards recognize outstanding innovation in the use of Alfresco to deliver innovative business solutions and immediate value to organizations operating on a limited budget and maximizing use of existing resources.


VERA wins this award with the project Digitaal Sociaal Huis. We consider it as a confirmation that open source software and collaboration management can lead to a successful implementation of projects in the field of e-government.


VERA  has a partnership with Lithium and CEVI so also local communities outside the region of Vlaams Brabant can benefit from the collaboration tool Digitaal Sociaal Huis

Virtualbox

We choose Virtualbox by Sun for creating a virtual machine with Open eGo and a default website preinstalled. We expect the image to be ready for deployment end of June.

Open Source CMS for local governments (dutch only)

Er bestaan flink wat open source CMS-systemen, maar meestal zijn die voor algemeen gebruik bedoeld. Met Open eGo is er sinds een tweetal weken een open source CMS, of communicatieplatform zoals men het zelf noemt, dat specifiek bedoeld is voor lokale overheden en aanverwanten.

Het initiatief voor het project komt van Lithium, een bedrijf dat al zo'n tien jaar websites en (online) toepassingen maakt voor vooral lokale besturen, OCMW's en andere organisaties. In die periode heeft het bedrijf een eigen CMS (deels gebaseerd op open source) ontwikkeld, en de kern daarvan heeft het nu aan de open source gemeenschap ter beschikking gesteld.

Het is de bedoeling dat het CMS daar verder een eigen leven gaat leiden, en dat er een gemeenschap rond ontstaat die functies toevoegt en het systeem verder ontwikkelt. Daarvoor wordt er opgeroepen om werkgroepen te starten of deel te nemen aan werkgroepen

  • Fedict released a test version of the Belgian eID IDP module for Drupal 6. This module does not use the old "reverse proxy" method, but relies on a separate, Java-based eID IDP server instead.

    Site owners can download the IDP software to set up their own IDP server, or use the test server kindly provided by e-contract.

    Site visitors don't have to install the OS-specific eID middleware, all interaction with the eID card is done through a Java-applet running on their computer.
